About
SARAH SHAW-STAHLKE, CPA
Meet Sarah
Sarah was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska where she spent her upbringing skiing on the frozen Chena River and admiring the wonder of the Aurora Borealis and midnight sun. After graduating from the University of Alaska Fairbanks with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, Sarah worked at public accounting firms across the nation in Alaska, Pennsylvania and Arizona before finally settling in Portland, Oregon—a place she is proud to call home.
For many years Sarah worked at a large regional Oregon CPA firm as a leader in the construction and tax departments before finally deciding a firm partnership wasn’t the career path for her. She left her position as a senior manager and opened her own practice in order to spend more time doing what she loves—working with and advising clients.
Sarah lives with her husband and calico cat in the Portland Metro area, and spends her time baking, gardening and exploring Oregon’s extensive trail system.

"She truly made me feel that I had an ally and provided advice and explanations that were easy to follow and understand. "
"I originally had the pleasure of working with Sarah as she helped me navigate the purchase of my business. She truly made me feel that I had an ally and provided advice and explanations that were easy to follow and understand. Since that time, Sarah has continued to be my accountant and advisor. I have found her to be thorough, organized, intelligent and proactive. As a person she is warm, thoughtful and kind. I would highly recommend Sarah."
"She also understands the construction industry and the unique opportunities and challenges we face."
“We have been in the construction business for sixteen years. In that time we have worked with four CPA’s. Sarah is the first CPA who has treated our relationship as a partnership, and quickly has become a trusted partner. She is knowledgeable, witty, and quick to respond. We enjoy our visits as she always goes the extra mile, and has helpful hints to support us. We often find ourselves saying “Let’s ask Sarah”.
Not only does Sarah know accounting and ever changing IRS landscape, she also understands the construction industry and the unique opportunities and challenges we face. She is quick to offer counsel on how other builders navigate any number of challenges.
Sarah has a smile on her face when you meet her in person and it shows when she is on the phone or communicating with e-mail.”
